The library information was interesting. The programs offered by each library were easy to see at a glance. All in all, I thought it might be an interesting site to visit now and again to get quick information. I visited radio stations, weather sites but will have to find time to visit more often.

LibraryThing

I think this is a pretty neat site. It will definitely be a help to me to keep track of the different books and authors that I have read. It will also let me know when a new book is coming out. It would be nice to catalogue my cookbooks to help me avoid buying duplicates. I will try to start to keep track of books that I am reading at the moment.

All in all, an interesting site, one that I will use for sure.

Calendars

I looked at both the Google and Yahoo calendars. Both are interesting but will take some time to navigate. I have been looking for something that will pop up a week before a birthday or special occasion so I will try to set something up from home in the near future. We really don't have time at work to figure out the bells and whistles but it is nice to know that these features are available.

Flickr and YouTube

I found Flickr user friendly and when I am retired, I will take time to categorize my pictures and home movies. I especially like the viewer restrictions.

I had opened YouTube before but it was nice to see the options offered by this site. I may be enticed to try posting something in the future.

RSS

I managed to open an account but found it difficult to add my favorite sites to this website. To me, it is just one more site I have to visit in the limited time I have in the day. I don't think I will be using this on a regular basis but may visit it once in a while.

GOOGLE

Well, this was quite an interesting site. I used librarian as my search title going through the different services offered. Surprising that the word librarian would bring up such a variety of porn. This aspect of google was a big disappointment.

On the other side, I found the templates, images and ease of setting up a personal website quite appealing. Other services such as translation and maps were easy to use and I plan to use them often. I am happy that I got the chance to search google as I would not have done it on my own. I wish I had more time to play with this site.

Facebook

I had to sign in to facebook as Lucy Libra as Lushious Librarian was not acceptable to them.

Personally, I think it is a big waste of time and so much information is out there for anyone to read. Once you add someone as a friend, anyone with access to your account can just keeping accessing people at will. I do have a regular Facebook account but I don't wish to link these exercises with it.



I think the younger generation is so technologically advanced that they just take this means of communication in stride. I, of the older generation, have always been taught to keep much of this information private.
